Precision Medical Website
The new design of the Precision Medical website launched in early August 2022. The goal was to better organize the content and make it easier for users to find the product or information as well as move the site to a more modern CMS. The prior site had long scrolling pages with lots of space as well as multiple clicks to get the user to the purchase page. It was built using Umbraco 7 CMS. In order to update to the newer versions of Umbraco CMS, a rebuild was needed.
Because of this, the company opted to rebuild using WordPress. The new site has tightened up the layout of the pages to eliminate unnecessary scrolling. While the number of clicks has not changed, the user can get to the products quicker because each selection does not load a new page. Plus, products that had multiple pages have been streamlined and condensed to one page. Both sites displayed the same information.
The WordPress CMS is easier to use versus the much more code-based Umbraco CMS. This makes it easier to train multiple employees to assist with the upkeep of the website. It is much quicker to make updates to the WordPress site as well. With the Umbraco site, some changes required a pipeline to run in Azure DevOps before the change was permanently made. The pipeline runtime averaged 45 min-1 hr.
